thyssenkrupp to participate in African Ports Evolution expo
ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions South Africa (Pty) Ltd will participate in the 5th annual African Ports Evolution taking place from 18-19 October 2016 at the ICC in Durban. The Company will showcase its solutions for the port handling and bulk materials handling industries, including overland conveyor systems, ship unloaders and loaders and wagon tipplers.

Ralf Hesemann appointed as CEO
Ralf Hesemann, former Managing Director of the Resource Technologies division of ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions South Africa, started today as the new Chief Executive Officer of ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions South Africa and (Africa) (Pty) Ltd. Since starting his career in the cement division of Polysius as a mechanical engineer in 1994, Ralf has occupied various positions within the company, giving him a broad range of experience across industries both locally and in sub-Saharan Africa.
Ciaran Harmon appointed Operations and Maintenance Manager
Ciaran Harmon joins the ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions Service Centre in South Africa today as the Operations and Maintenance Manager heading up theOperations and Maintenance Department within Services.Having studied both in London and Dublin, Ciaran holds a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, a BEng (Honours) in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering and a Master of Engineering (Honours) in Industrial Engineering and Operations Management.Ciaran started off his career in Dublin as a process engineer and in the last years of hiscareer before joining the thyssenkrupp team he served as an engineering manager within the cement industry.
Jacques Steyn appointed General Manager – Materials Handling
Jacques Steyn has been appointed as General Manager Materials Handling at ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions South Africa (Pty) Ltd, and will be responsible for the management of the Materials Handling business line, reporting to the CEO. Jacques has a B Eng Hons (Mechanical) degree which he obtained from the University of Pretoria. Since leaving thyssenkrupp some 15 years ago, Jacques has held various roles within the mining and materials handling industries in project management and more recently served as the head of Mining Systems in Sub-Sahara Africa.
Kholofelo Masunga appointed Manager Transformation
Kholofelo Masunga has been appointed Manager Transformation at ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions South Africa (Pty) Ltd and is responsible for the management of the overall company’stransformation score card. This will include advisory services in terms of the BBBEE requirements duringtender stage.She reports to the CEO. Kholofelo holds an ND Analytical Chemistry fromTechnikon Witwatersrand, a B-Tech in Quality Assurance from Pretoria Technikon,Advanced Programme in Supply Chain Management from the University of Pretoria and aBBBEE Management Development Programme from UNISA.Prior to joining thyssenkrupp, Kholofelo worked in Enterprise &Supplier Development and Sustainability roles in the mining industry and occupied several managerial positions in Supply Chain.
thyssenkrupp and Sasol Mining join forces
Sasol's TAS 40 bi-directional drum reclaimer is used for the bulk handling of coal, which is fed into the Synfuels plant from bulk stockyards. With a 40 m rail centre, a cutting circle diameter of 6.0m and 200 t/h of coal.

Turnkey industrial solutions
thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions (TKIS) is a newly established entity that incorporates, among others, two business units that have been formed from the amalgamation of three previously separate companies. Uhde, with its engineering, design and construction expertise in the area of chemical, petrochemical and industrial plants has become the TKIS Process Technologies business unit; while thyssenkrupp Materials Handling with bulk materials handling and mineral processing expertise; and Polysius, which brings expertise in comminution technology and cement and lime plants, have been combined to make up the TKIS Resource Technologies business unit.
